Positive Psychology

As the scientific study of the strengths that enable communities and individuals to thrive, positive psychology is established on the belief that people have the desire to lead lives that are not only meaningful, but also fulfilling. It focuses on the desire of the individual to cultivate the characteristics that are best within themselves so they can enhance their experiences of play, love and work, creating the inner being that they want others to see.

Positive psychology works one-on-one with each patient, using an effective intervention approach that can help one obtain a satisfactory life. This approach is used to avoid treatment of mental illness, so it is a different and straightforward scientific manner without using drugs to treat mental illness. The focus is on personal growth. Many other approaches focus on pathology, which is common among other frameworks within the psychology field.

Positive psychology originated in 1998, and literally tens of millions of dollars have been spent on research. It points out that most people are drawn toward the future rather than the past, so they will work to improve and flourish.   If you are interested to find out more about Positive Psychology, please contact us.
